As part of the 2018 Transformational Author Experience, host Christine Kloser provided a free Playbook with contributions by multiple authors including Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy, better known as SARK.
SARK has sixteen titles in print, with two million books sold.
Here is a brief excerpt from her section of the Playbook:
Sometimes a concurrence of events or circumstances leads you to the exact place you need to be.
“The only reason why my poster ‘How to Be an Artist’ ever became known and went on to sell two-and-a-half million copies was because of my cat, Jupiter, who would get up on his tiny legs and peel this poster off the wall.
“It would land on the floor and wake me up in the morning.
“For five days this went on, and finally I said, ‘Well, maybe I’m supposed to do something with this thing.’”
The Truth about Stepping Out as a Writer/Author
Giving yourself permission to create is the key to overcoming fear and self-doubt.
“I did not publish a book until I was thirty-five years old. For twenty-five years I thought of all the books that I would write, and I procrastinated.
“I was afraid. There was also a lot of incredible life being lived, self-destructive behavior, and dreams.
“When the day came to finally write that first book, I wrote it in two weeks.”

On Inner Critics and Egg Factories
“My inner critic is a very active Perfectionist.
“I have given my Perfectionist an imaginary job, who happens to work at an egg factory checking for eggs that are cracked.
“This job was actually not big enough so she’s recently been promoted to supervisor of world egg factories.
“All the factories in the world that produce chicken eggs are being supervised by my Perfectionist.”
When your Perfectionist has something else to focus on it makes it much easier for you to write with speed and ease.
Learn How to Separate the Voices of Your Inner Critic with this Three-Step Process:
1. Identify the negative voice inside your head, and separate from that energy by standing up and making a chopping motion with one of your hands coming down, while saying the word no with great emphasis.
2. Reassign these critics to other jobs.
Critics need to work. If you don’t redirect them, they will work in your life in ways that don’t serve you.
3. Activate your inner wise self to dialogue and communicate with your inner critic.
Your inner wise self knows exactly how to calm the inner critic.
