The future of career – Presentation to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce

I have just had the opportunity to present to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce about the importance of career and the future of work.

My aim, as always in these things, was to try and present some kind of corrective to public and press scaremongering about the future, particularly in relation to AI and automation. While I recognise that there are lots of challenges ahead, I think that it is important to give people optimism and agency and the belief that they can take positive actions to improve their lives and support the development of their society.

The audience was a mix of business people, people involved in vocational education and pathways and school’s careers professionals. People seemed to like it!
