Presentations to Gloucester Career Hub – Leading careers in schools

Today I had the opportunity to address a room full of careers leaders in Gloucester. The University of Gloucestershire has the distinction of being one of the few British universities that I had never (until today) visited. I can report that they have a pleasant and airy campus on the outskirts of the town. I also enjoyed seeing Gloucester Cathedral which is really very impressive indeed.

But, you don’t come here for my sightseeing stories. You want cold hard careers content, so here you go.

Firstly I gave a key note setting out some of the history of careers leadership, reflecting on current challenges and looking forwards to the future. This is what I had to say…

I also had the opportunity to run a workshop, in which I explored the evaluation of career programmes in schools and colleges. As ever my message was ‘collect less data, think more about the data you already have’, but in more detail this was what I covered….
