The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills have just published a series of new reports looking at career guidance in Norwegian schools. This provides a powerful evidence base for the development of the country’s career guidance system.
- New ambitions for career guidance in schools (Holm-Nordhagen et al.) looks at the future development of career guidance in schools in Norway, arguing that the country needs to develop a robust career guidance system to support young people’s choices.
- Quality in career guidance in schools (Mordal et al.) explores the current quality of career guidance in Norway’s schools.
- Professional career guidance in schools (Bakke et al.) looks at the level of professional qualification and competence in schools and investigates where education and training in this area comes from.
- Exploring the roles, qualifications and skills of career guidance professionals in schools (Hooley) looks out from Norway to explore how five comparator countries address similar issues.
With the exception of the final report (which is by me and in English), all of these reports are available in Norwegian. So norsktalende can enjoy reading them, while the rest of us will have to make do with Google Translate.
But, this investment in research and development demonstrates Norway’s ongoing commitment to the development of career guidance in schools.
