How To Use Mantras, Affirmations, Positive Self-Talk And Manifestation To Succeed In Your Job Search

Following

Mostly everyone has an inner monologue running through their mind. The internal conversation can be positive or negative and impacts how you feel and act.

Interviewing for a job, seeking a promotion or speaking up in a meeting call for positive self-talk to imbue you with the confidence to succeed in your mission. The dark side is when negative self-talk takes place, which makes you feel unworthy of the new job or promotion. Feelings of inadequacy can be devastating, leading to stress, anxiety, depression and mental health issues.

You have the power to change the inner thoughts ruminating through your mind. When a negative thought appears, you can ignore it and let it dissipate or replace it with a positive one. The mindset techniques of positive self-talk, affirmations, mantras and manifestation will help you improve your self-confidence, leading to achieving your career goals.

Here’s How You Can Change Your Mindset

Adopting positive self-talk is a superpower to propel you forward in your career aspirations and will also improve your relationships and life. Start by paying attention to your inner voice, and consider how you feel about the thoughts. When a defeatist thought pops up, critically analyze it and reframe the situation by finding a positive alternative that is productive and helpful. Continually swap out thoughts that bring you down with uplifting ones that keep you focused on your goals and desires. Be prepared; it may take time and effort, and you’ll need to overcome setbacks.

You Can Believe Your Way Into Succeeding

It's natural to be nervous before an interview. If you are in between roles, there is an element of fear and dread that you won’t get selected. Your thoughts race, and you chastise yourself for all your bad decisions leading to this place. All you can think about is, “How can I pay my mortgage, college tuition for the kids and bills if I can’t get a job?”

When the waves of worry flood over you, tell yourself, “I am the best person for the job, and I will make it happen!” While waiting for the interviewer to sign onto the video, keep repeating over and over again your go-to mantras and affirmations to reaffirm all your great qualities, skills and experience, the recommendations by former bosses and the respect of colleagues.

Also, during the few minutes of idly sitting by with anxiety bubbling up, try some deep breathing techniques. Breathe through your nose to the count of four, hold it for a few beats, then slowly release. Do this a few times, and you’ll be surprised to learn how quickly you become more relaxed and calm.

You can add one more element: visualization. Picture yourself sitting in your home office with family happily surrounding you, as you’ve secured the new opportunity with a substantial increase in compensation and a path to fast-track your career.

Manifestations, Affirmations and Mantras

Like positive self-talk, you can employ manifestations, affirmations and mantras to further your career ambitions. A mantra is a word or phrase you will repeat on a loop. Mantras are usually associated with meditation, but are great for getting what you want in your career and life.

Before turning on your monitor and adjusting the lights for a video interview, say some mantras.

“I have the experience and talents for this job.”

“I will get this great new job!”

“I’ve worked hard and deserve the promotion, raise and increased bonus.”

Manifestations are based upon the belief that the universe will assist you in achieving your desired goals, as if it's your destiny. Start by choosing a specific goal and believing that it's self-ordained. You will think in terms of, “I’m getting that new job, higher salary and stock options.”

The repetitive nature of a statement or phrase will reprogram your subconscious, enhance positivity and reduce stress. You can repeat positive affirmations, such as, “I will not be laid off because I’m worthy of keeping my job.”
