Call for application for people to become a NICEC fellow

The National Institute for Career Education and Counselling (NICEC) is looking for new Fellows who can demonstrate:

  • a significant impact in the field of career development that may be evidenced by experience in the domains of practice, development, policy or research;
  • a willingness to facilitate or stimulate constructive dialogue across domains of policy, practice, development and research;
  • a commitment to continued learning in this field;
  • and an interest in joining the NICEC and actively working to develop its activities.

NICEC is committed to serious thinking and innovation in career development work. Membership is open to all. Founded in 1975, NICEC is a learned society for reflective practitioners in career education, career guidance/counselling, and career development. This includes those working in research, policy, consultancy, scholarship, service delivery and management, within education, the workplace, or the wider community. We foster dialogue and innovation between these areas through events, networking, publications and projects.

NICEC is not a professional association or commercial research institute, nor is it organisationally aligned with any specific institution. Although based in the UK, there is a strong international dimension. NICEC is managed by its Fellows who maintain it as a company and provide the programme of events and publications.

We are looking to recruit new Fellows who represent as many types of career development work as possible and who have diverse backgrounds. At present we would especially welcome applications from people whose work focuses on primary schools, further education or with employers and also from those who are in current practice or who are involved in managing careers services.
