Here’s How To Build The Courage And Faith In Yourself To Succeed

Following

Tell yourself that you will devote the next six months to reimagining your career and life. Commit to placing all of your energy behind this endeavor.

Think of what you want to achieve. Then, build a daily game plan to slowly and steadily become the person you’ve always wanted to be. Some days will be better than others, and that’s okay. Try to give it your all each and every day. Make sure to reward yourself when you meet or exceed a goal.

Accept The Present, But Don’t Dwell On The Negativity

It’s understandable if you are feeling a little down and depressed. Two-plus years of dealing with the pandemic can weaken even the toughest people. It felt like there was a potential light at the end of the tunnel, as 2021 ushered in a brief burst of economic improvement, plentiful jobs and high-flying stock, cryptocurrency and real estate markets. Now, it feels as if the good times are slipping away. People are back to worrying about the safety of their jobs and an uncertain future.

Don’t worry; things will soon change in your favor.

America Finds Itself In Challenging Times And You Need To Rise To The Occasion

We are now contending with layoffs, hiring freezes, job rescissions, runaway inflation, higher costs and geopolitical events. Despite all the unrelenting negativity, you need to have faith in yourself.

It would be easy to give up. Don’t do that. Be a contrarian. Look for ways to improve your job and career. Some marquee companies in the United States, including Microsoft, Uber and Airbnb, were founded during a recession. Here are some things you can do right now to help build and grow your career in an imperfect situation.

Think Positively

To advance and succeed in your career, you must start thinking positively. Positive thinking is the art of finding the silver lining in things. You can view roadblocks as a productive way of solving and overcoming a problem. Instead of expecting the worst outcome, think of how you can turn things around in your favor.

The first thing to do is start with self-talk. Rather than falling victim to ruminating over the never-ending stream of negative and self-destructive thoughts, substitute positive ones instead. Over time, you will learn to block out destructive negative thoughts. Your mind will automatically default to being positive and focused on problem-solving and improving your life.

Reframe What Is Happening To Your Benefit

Try reframing what is happening in your work life. When you bomb an interview or don’t receive the promotion you were hoping for, don’t get dejected. Seek out the good. Consider that you really didn’t want to remain at your company or the job you interviewed for wasn’t so great. Now that you know there is a roadblock to moving ahead in your organization, you are now free to hunt for the job you truly desire aggressively.

Manifest And Visualize Your Bright New Future

Manifest a brighter future by thinking about all you can accomplish. Manifestation is the practice of thinking of something you want and turning it into reality. Visualize yourself in your new job at a great company with a high-level corporate title and a substantial compensation package.

How To Start

  • Don’t be afraid to speak up in video calls and in-person meetings.
  • Demand the long-promised raise and promotion that has been put off.
  • Ask to join a team involved in exciting projects that can propel your career.
  • Seek recruiters in your space and ask them to keep an eye open for new opportunities.
  • Go on informational interviews.
  • Send out résumés to the target companies that you’d love to work for.
  • If you hate your job or boss, start laying the groundwork to quitting and finding a new role.
  • Don’t get caught in the quiet-quitting trap. Work hard and rise above the crowd that is just coasting along. Key executives will notice and opportunities will follow.
  • Attend networking events and conferences to meet new people who can turn you on to new jobs.
  • Consider going back to school, learning to code and attaining accreditations, licenses and credentials that could help you move up the corporate ladder or gain access to a new job.
  • Block out all the negativity by staying off of social media and turning off the television.
  • Keep trying and never give up.
