How to Master EOS® with 10,000 Punches

If you’ve just started your journey using the Entrepreneurial Operating System^® (EOS) to run your business, you probably feel overwhelmed. Don’t worry! That’s normal. When you start anything new, it won’t come easily. It helps to remember that repetition, form, and coaching hold the keys to your success. Here are some tips on how to master EOS with 10,000 punches.

Repetition – Practice Makes Progress

Bruce Lee has said of practice: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks one time. But I do fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Focus on getting in your 10,000 kicks or punches (just not literally). You need that much repetition so that the knowledge becomes second nature.

Also, intentionally select what you practice so you can become the best at what you do. Which one punch or kick will you practice? Repetition creates automated habits, allowing you to focus on newer, more complex issues that come your way.

• Managing day-to-day issues
• Serving as the tiebreaker when the leadership team hits an impasse
• Holding everyone accountable

Remember, you’re not looking for perfection in your role. Instead, you should feel like you’re making progress while holding others accountable for their tasks.

Only Practice Good Form

Make sure you always practice good form to create good habits. Otherwise, like a badly thrown punch, you and others could potentially get hurt. You’ll have mastered the wrong things, in other words, and moved in the wrong direction. We can always improve, but only if we practice the correct form.

How do you know where you need the most practice? Mindfully consider what challenges you. Do you have trouble staying focused? Do you struggle to sort out good ideas from bad ones and prioritize tasks? How clearly do you communicate with your team? Keep looking for anything that could interfere with your success.
