Coaching is helpful in leadership development, improves performance, or even helps clients set and achieve goals in aspects of their lives other than just business (American Management Association, 2008). Whitmore (1992) points out that coaching helps individuals develop greater self-awareness and personal responsibility.
While every company and their mothers are claiming that AI is going to change everything (and hoping their investors agree), I think this is really interesting for McKinsey. A little context on my perspective first: In 2008, I joined McKinsey’s research center in Boston.
That is the world that would exist without criticalthinking. Criticalthinking is not well understood. People say “you go to school to learn how to think” but show no evidence that this happens. We assume criticalthinking happens at work but we can’t explain how we do it.
The sample consists of 54 adults in Germany between 2008 and 2018 from various countries including Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, and Nigeria. Some common factors that emerge are decision-making capacity, positive self-view, confidence in personal abilities, problem-solving, communication skills, and the ability to manage emotions.
