My family and many other families have been able to find a solution to this type of situation. As a guess, I would venture that they developed from the fact that family farms ARE fundamentally different than many other businesses, as they combine the functions of business, home, stewardship, community, and heritage. I tell myself I have to develop a shorthand sign for manure, because I need him to not put it so close to the house.
