I'd like to add one idea from a mentor of mine, who led big organizations in both sectors. Our bank account barely noticed. The exceptions are nonpartisan government organizations like the OCC's bank examiners and the NTSB. Salesforce.com rocks! This is definitely something I will keep in mind when (if?)

I was thinking that even though I don’t know where my bank card is, I have the company card. Good managers will do their own recruiting by having their own great network. And managers already recruit through networks – at least in areas of short supply, or PAs who they take from job to job with them.

A bank loan approval- would. Another benefit over a bank loan: as long as you adhere to the payment plan, it doesn't show up on your credit report and doesn't affect your credit rating. Something with a 24-hour on-call number, lots of opportunity for online networking, and required practice sessions with the whole "awkward conversation/drink holding" tango. I'm 51 and find it hard to do things like call doctors, or go to the bank, or make appts., There could be body language index cards!

Years ago, I worked in a rural bank, located in a small Wisconsin town similar to Darlington. The fact that the farmer has worked with his parents for 20 years and still not acquired equity in the 500 acres points to major problems in relations. One of the crabbiest, pessimistic customers there was an elderly bachelor.
