I want to be more diligent about finding a mentor to help me grow, outside of my supervisor. We meet many in our lives that can become our coaches or mentors, for longer or shorter periods of time. Finding a good mentor/coach/teacher is tough, but starting a blog exposes you to a huge measure of immediate coaching.

Even if I manage to do that, I will not feel like I have accomplished something important today. And then, when it turns out that it really does mean sleep inducing I didn’t feel accomplished. Once you are drama free, you could actually focus on accomplishing more goals. Who puts a word like that in a picture caption?

I think you need to write a post about things you've done right, things you want, and how you are going to move on and accomplish them. Many are engineers. Exaggeration: repeated tales of humanitarian accomplishments grow in the retelling. Memory can always be counted on to supply the new facts.

For some reason, your voice seems to get through to her much better and smoother than mine on topics like frugality etc. : ) She totally looks up to you as a mentor! I encourage the spending debate for entrepreneurs (internally and externally) to be about why to spend, what it accomplishes, how it simplifies, what's the return, etc.

For years I've been trying to explain to my engineer husband how the numbers literally float around the page when I look at it and I should probably not be the one doing the taxes. You're accomplishing herculean tasks few women ever think of attempting. Most of the aerospace and civil engineers I've worked with never had to handle childrearing or other social duties. Ask yourself if you're doing the right things to accomplish this, not whether you measure up to June Cleaver. Don't.

I work with students in the liberal arts and sciences, so although a lot of the companies that come to campus are looking for business and engineering students, I am helping my students compete and realize the skills they have that set them apart. Lesson = Get an engineering degree Oh… and go to a canadian university.

I went to the top engineering school in the country. The "smart kids" at my country bumpkin high school all went away to college and have been able to find successful careers in medicine, engineering, law and business despite having a high-school education that didn't include every AP class available to our city peers.

I also have it on good authority that the quality of Facebook's software engineering is shite. But when watching TV or in a darkened movie theater, intimacy is so much simpler to accomplish. Of these, I think it is the inability to back up your own data that causes me the deepest concern. The intimacy of reading is overrated.
